KIWI SPONSORSHIP.
Date: 30 Apr 2025
Did you know that for every house we build, we sponsor a Kiwi?
As our valued customer, upon the completion of your new home, you will receive a package containing information about the chick sponsored in your name. Additionally, you will be given a Family pass to visit the Kiwi hatchery in Rotorua and witness firsthand the conservation process.
This sponsorship plays a crucial role in supporting the hatchery's conservation initiatives by safeguarding Kiwi eggs from predators like stoats, ferrets, cats, and dogs. Without this protection, Kiwis in the wild would have only a 5% chance of reaching adulthood.
Once eggs are collected from the bush, they are nurtured at the hatchery until chicks reach one year. After this time, they are released back into the bush where they have a much better chance to survive and thrive and produce their own offspring.
Despite progress made in conservation work, the Kiwi remains endangered with just 68,000 recorded in the wild and in unmanaged areas their numbers decline by 2% annually.
We take pride in contributing to the preservation of our National Bird - and we thank our customers who play a part in ensuring that Kiwi continue to be part of our native environment.
