Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions.

Where is KDH based?

The KDH hub including our newly built office, Showhome and transportable yard is located at 170 Kohia Drive, Horotiu, Waikato.

What is the duration of the build process?

The build time is 14-16 weeks, once your council building consent has been granted (which can take 3-5 weeks depending on the council).

Do you organise the council consents?

Yes, we take care of all the council consents and requirements.

Consent process

  • We will draw up the plans, gather the required information and submit the Waikato yard building consent to council.
  • At the same time, we will also submit the building consent for your local council in the region where the home will be situated. (A building consent and code of compliance is required for each council).
  • Once your build is underway, we manage all the council inspections during the build process to ensure everything passes the building code standard.
  • A final inspection and code of compliance will be obtained once your home is completed and prior to transport.
  • After your home arrives onsite, the drainage, power and water services are connected a final on-site inspection will need to be booked to obtain the on-site code of compliance. This is where you will play a part, as you will need to book this with council and supply your local contractors paperwork for the final inspection. (We are here to help with this). The cost of the final inspection as well as any on-site works will be at your cost and are not normally included in the contract.

The site consent is used to show compliance in accordance with the local town plans, building rules and regulations and will include the required foundation, boundary setbacks, service connections and other relevant site conditions required by council.

Are there any on-site requirements?

Yes, your council may require a geotech report to determine the type of foundations needed and a siting report for location of build. Site works such as excavation, drainage and power mains connections will also need to be arranged for your site, but don't worry we guide you through all this process.

How much does a transportable home cost?

Our transportable plans start from $191,000.

The cost of a home depends on your specific needs. We have a range of size options available and can give an accurate estimate once we know exactly what you’re looking for. At this early stage of enquiry, we can give you an estimate build and transport cost on a standard plan for your site.

Please get in touch so we can send you this information

Is the cost of transporting the home included in the contract price?

Yes, once we have all relevant information, we will supply you with a written quote including transport, labour and material costs. All which will be added into the contract price for installment payments.

Where do you build the houses?

All our transportable homes are built in our secure Hamilton yard located at 170 Kohia Drive, Horotiu. Once the build is completed, we arrange the transport to your site. There is also the option of building a transportable plan on-site if you are within 45mins of Hamilton.

What areas do you transport too?

We can transport homes all over the North Island, site dependent. There some are factors that can make sites inaccessible, so get in touch today to see if your location is suitable for a transportable home.

What is the largest size you can fit on a truck?

Our biggest plan is the 133sqm 4-bedroom home. This size will fit on the truck in one move. We can transport larger homes in two pieces and then put them together on-site.
